We have made several modifications to our day camp programming - with the safety of campers and staff at the fore thought in every activity. Water Safety Aide Volunteer Program - Water Safety Aide (WSA) - Session 1 Interested in working with children and teaching swim lessons? Sign up today to be a Water Safety Volunteer Aide!Volunteers will help in our Learn to Swim programs and assist lifeguards with teaching swim lessons. Water Safety Aides (WSA) must be comfortable in the water and enjoy working with children. They should be able to swim at a level 3 or higher. Students ages 12 to 15 years of age may volunteer.This unique volunteer opportunity is open to students who are interested in working with children and gaining experience in a pool setting as a future lifeguard. The WSA program allows young volunteers to assist lifeguards in our learn to swim programs, which provides them with invaluable skills and fulfills community service requirements.Registration is required (FREE) for insurance purposes. We are looking for individuals to commit to the full two-week session. Limit 6 volunteers per session. Limit two sessions per volunteer.

Water Safety Aide Volunteer Program - Water Safety Aide (WSA) - Session 1 Interested in working with children and teaching swim lessons? Sign up today to be a Water Safety Volunteer Aide!Volunteers will help in our Learn to Swim programs and assist lifeguards with teaching swim lessons. Water Safety Aides (WSA) must be comfortable in the water and enjoy working with children. They should be able to swim at a level 3 or higher. Students ages 12 to 15 years of age may volunteer.This unique volunteer opportunity is open to students who are interested in working with children and gaining experience in a pool setting as a future lifeguard. The WSA program allows young volunteers to assist lifeguards in our learn to swim programs, which provides them with invaluable skills and fulfills community service requirements.Registration is required (FREE) for insurance purposes. We are looking for individuals to commit to the full two-week session. Limit 6 volunteers per session. Limit two sessions per volunteer.

Water Safety Aide Volunteer Program - Water Safety Aide (WSA) - Session 1 Interested in working with children and teaching swim lessons? Sign up today to be a Water Safety Volunteer Aide!Volunteers will help in our Learn to Swim programs and assist lifeguards with teaching swim lessons. Water Safety Aides (WSA) must be comfortable in the water and enjoy working with children. They should be able to swim at a level 3 or higher. Students ages 12 to 15 years of age may volunteer.This unique volunteer opportunity is open to students who are interested in working with children and gaining experience in a pool setting as a future lifeguard. The WSA program allows young volunteers to assist lifeguards in our learn to swim programs, which provides them with invaluable skills and fulfills community service requirements.Registration is required (FREE) for insurance purposes. We are looking for individuals to commit to the full two-week session. Limit 6 volunteers per session. Limit two sessions per volunteer.

Water Safety Aide Volunteer Program - Water Safety Aide (WSA) - Session 1 Interested in working with children and teaching swim lessons? Sign up today to be a Water Safety Volunteer Aide!Volunteers will help in our Learn to Swim programs and assist lifeguards with teaching swim lessons. Water Safety Aides (WSA) must be comfortable in the water and enjoy working with children. They should be able to swim at a level 3 or higher. Students ages 12 to 15 years of age may volunteer.This unique volunteer opportunity is open to students who are interested in working with children and gaining experience in a pool setting as a future lifeguard. The WSA program allows young volunteers to assist lifeguards in our learn to swim programs, which provides them with invaluable skills and fulfills community service requirements.Registration is required (FREE) for insurance purposes. We are looking for individuals to commit to the full two-week session. Limit 6 volunteers per session. Limit two sessions per volunteer.

Water Safety Aide Volunteer Program - Water Safety Aide (WSA) - Session 1 Interested in working with children and teaching swim lessons? Sign up today to be a Water Safety Volunteer Aide!Volunteers will help in our Learn to Swim programs and assist lifeguards with teaching swim lessons. Water Safety Aides (WSA) must be comfortable in the water and enjoy working with children. They should be able to swim at a level 3 or higher. Students ages 12 to 15 years of age may volunteer.This unique volunteer opportunity is open to students who are interested in working with children and gaining experience in a pool setting as a future lifeguard. The WSA program allows young volunteers to assist lifeguards in our learn to swim programs, which provides them with invaluable skills and fulfills community service requirements.Registration is required (FREE) for insurance purposes. We are looking for individuals to commit to the full two-week session. Limit 6 volunteers per session. Limit two sessions per volunteer.

Cooking Up Fun With Literature: Sewing Up Sweets - Cooking Up Fun With Literature: Sewing Up Sweets Cooking is SEW much fun! Literacy will be incorporated into this fun, hands-on class as children COOK and SEW their way through popular book titles such as If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, Donut Chef, Becoming Boba, The Very Hungry Caterpillar At the Bakeshop, and Ice Cream Summer. Participants will leave camp with a personalized apron, a "sweet" hand sewing project, and the ability to be more independent in the kitchen.This class will be taught by a Certified Family and Consumer Sciences Educator in a lab-style classroom. Campers will learn kitchen safety and sanitation procedures, equipment identification and use, measuring skills, math skills, recipe reading, how to thread a needle and tie a knot, and hand sew; using a running, overcast, and blanket stitch.** PLEASE NOTE: This camp may not be suitable for those with allergies or sensitivities.**

Summer Band and Orchestra - Summer Band & Orchestra This summer program is designed for motivated 5th and 6th grade students that love their school band and orchestra program and want to continue a group experience during the summer. This will be a quick paced 5-day intensive beginner camp; students with less than one year of instruction will be discouraged from applying.Band and Orchestra meet for 3 hours, Monday - Friday. Within that day, students from all 5 Elementary Schools can expect to learn 2-3 new ensemble pieces and work on technique building exercises to further their progress on their instrument. In addition, we plan to add combined Band and Orchestra team building activities throughout the week.Each student will receive one semi-private lesson during the week from a member of Guilderland High School's Tri M Honor Society Program. These High School Students are dedicated musicians and very serious about their music studies and we are excited to collaborate with them.On the final day of camp (Friday at 11:00am til 12:00pm), students will perform for family and friends on stage at the middle school. Students will receive a Guilderland Summer Music tee shirt for their participation and to wear for the concert.

Sign up today to be a Water Safety Volunteer Aide!Volunteers will help in our Learn to Swim programs and assist lifeguards with teaching swim lessons. Water Safety Aides (WSA) must be comfortable in the water and enjoy working with children. They should be able to swim at a level 3 or higher. Students ages 12 to 15 years of age may volunteer.This unique volunteer opportunity is open to students who are interested in working with children and gaining experience in a pool setting as a future lifeguard. The WSA program allows young volunteers to assist lifeguards in our learn to swim programs, which provides them with invaluable skills and fulfills community service requirements.Registration is required (FREE) for insurance purposes. We are looking for individuals to commit to the full two-week session. Limit 6 volunteers per session. Limit two sessions per volunteer.

Summer Band and Orchestra - Summer Band & Orchestra This summer program is designed for motivated 5th and 6th grade students that love their school band and orchestra program and want to continue a group experience during the summer. This will be a quick paced 5-day intensive beginner camp; students with less than one year of instruction will be discouraged from applying.Band and Orchestra meet for 3 hours, Monday - Friday. Within that day, students from all 5 Elementary Schools can expect to learn 2-3 new ensemble pieces and work on technique building exercises to further their progress on their instrument. In addition, we plan to add combined Band and Orchestra team building activities throughout the week.Each student will receive one semi-private lesson during the week from a member of Guilderland High School's Tri M Honor Society Program. These High School Students are dedicated musicians and very serious about their music studies and we are excited to collaborate with them.On the final day of camp (Friday at 11:00am til 12:00pm), students will perform for family and friends on stage at the middle school. Students will receive a Guilderland Summer Music tee shirt for their participation and to wear for the concert.

All swim lessons are overseen by a certified American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor.
LEVEL 1 - Introduction to Water Skills: For students who do not feel comfortable playing in shallow water and/or do not like to put their faces in the water. Skills learned: walking in chest deep water, supported front and back float, arm action with support, kicking on front and back using a kickboard, blowing bubbles, submerge face, safety skills.
LEVEL 2 - Fundamental Aquatic Skills: For students who are able to demonstrate the skills from Level 1 and are ready to learn the basics of water locomotion. Skills learned: submerge entire head, retrieve objects, explore deep water with support, unsupported back and front glide, bobbing, jump in from edge, front and back flutter kick, begin learning to swim on both front and back using arms and legs simultaneously, safety skills.

Parent & Child Aquatics (Tot Swim) - Parent & Child Aquatics (Tot Swim), Session 1 This American Red Cross Program is designed for young children and their parents. The purpose of the course is to familiarize children ages 2-4 with the water and teach swimming readiness skills, In addition, the course also teaches techniques parents can use to help orient their children to the water.Taught in a group setting with certified lifeguards, this program is a great way to help your child learn to be comfortable in the water and introduce them to basic swimming skills using demonstrations, games, and songs.*One adult must accompany each child in the water in proper swim wear.***Swim lessons are taught by department-trained swim lesson instructors and volunteer water safety aides. Fun With Fabrics - Fun With Fabrics Session - 1 In Fun with Fabrics, participants will design and make their own pillow, tee shirt and wall decoration. Participants will explore fleece and calico fabrics, create designs with fabric paints/markers and try their hand at some simple sewing. If you've taken this before, come on back! Each year your work will get more and more sophisticated, and its always fun to play around with different fabrics and designs!

Guilder'run Youth Track and Field - Guilder'run Youth Track and Field The Guilderland Youth Track & Field program offers athletes the complete competitive track & field experience in a low pressure, friendly and extremely fun environment. Youth athletes will get the opportunity to practice and compete in the events of their choice. Athletes will have the chance to try sprinting, jumping, throwing, hurdling and distance running events.The staff of experienced coaches will help each athlete find the events that are best suited for them. The coaches will also help each athlete improve their speed, endurance, agility and strength using engaging and exciting games, drill and workouts. Athletes will be encouraged to set goals and work towards achieving their goals in inter-squad track meets.

Wrestling Camp - Beginner and Intermediate Wrestling This camp is designed for wrestlers who want to learn and strengthen the fundamentals of the sport. Campers will learn and practice essential drills and techniques appropriate for both beginner and advanced wrestlers. The camp also incorporates wrestling videos and guest speakers to enhance the learning experience.Campers are grouped into small learning groups based on grade, skill level, and experience, allowing for individualized instruction and meaningful interaction with our coaching staff.Instructors include current coaches, wrestlers, and alumni from Guilderland High School, providing campers with knowledgeable instruction and positive role models throughout the week.
