Afternoon Fun in the Sun provides exciting outdoor activities including swimming, hiking, sports/cooperative games and more! This camp focuses on socializing/making friends through healthy outdoor activities.
On days the group goes swimming, they will use the park's facility, which is overseen by several certified lifeguards. Please provide any swimming or medical concerns during the registration process, as this information will be shared with the instructors. In case of inclement weather, the program will utilize the Large Pavilion.
General Information
Children enrolled in the Tawasentha 1/2 Day Camp or a Sports/Enrichment program (offered from 9-11am) can easily transition into the Afternoon Fun in the Sun program.
Campers should wear comfortable sneakers and clothing suitable for various sport activities and bring a swimsuit, towel, and sunscreen.
Please ensure your child brings a lunch, a snack, and plenty of water. **Lunch will not be provided**
Instructor's Experience
Kolby LeClair began working at Tawasentha Half-Day Camp in the summer of 2018. He was promoted to Head Sports Counselor in the summer of 2020. He began his college education with an Associate's Degree in Physical Education from Hudson Valley Community College and finished at SUNY Cortland with a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education.
Alyssa Doyle is a recent graduate from Guilderland High School.
She is currently studying Childhood Education at SUNY Oneonta.
Alyssa has enjoyed working at camp for the past three years as a camp counselor and group leader!
Emily Ryan is a recent graduate of Guilderland High School.
She is currently studying Adolescent Education and History at SUNY Plattsburgh.
Emily loves working as a day camp counselor, especially since she grew up attending this same camp.
Transportation Information
If your child is participating in the day camp, supervision will be transferred from their morning counselor to Instructors Kolby, Alyssa, and Emily, as they work for the day camp program.
The pick up and drop off location will be at the Tawasentha Park Tennis Courts, unless otherwise indicated.
