Peter G. Barber, Guilderland Town Supervisor, Welcomes You to

Guilderland Families,

Summer is here!  Is your child registered for camp?

We have finalized our 2022 Summer Camp line-up!  Make sure to create an account and turn on the email blast notifications (general notices) to stay up to date on our offerings - current members should double check their account status and their email notifications as well.  Our finalized summer schedule is available for viewing, flip through our digital brochure above.  Camp registrations opened April 1st!

For over 40 years, the Guilderland Parks & Recreation Department has offered exceptional programming that promotes fun, fitness and a wide variety of activities designed to enrich your child's summer experience, and we are excited to offer you another amazing season.  We thought it might be helpful to give you a brief summary of the activities we will be offering during the summer of 2022.

The Town runs a six-week, half day adventure camp at Tawasentha Park each year for kids entering kindergarten through 8th grade.  This year those six weeks will be divided up into 6 one- week sessions for the day camp and JVC programs beginning June 27th - August 5th.  Swim lessons will be offerred to day campers, at no additional charge, on a limited first-come, first serve basis.  Swim lessons are a two week commitment.  No Camps on Monday, July 4th.  This year we have various trips planned such as bowling, mini golf and the planetarium along with camp wide activities such as SteamWhiz, Community Day, Ponies 4 Hire and Climb time.  Unfortunately, we will not be able to offer transportation this summer.

Beside the Tawasentha Day Camp programs, residents will have over 40 sport camps and 40 enrichement camps from which to choose from.  We have several new offerings this summer, sure to spark the interest of many young campers.  Take a few minutes and look through our digital brochure.  The pool at Tawasentha Park will once again offer the Red Cross Learn-to Swim program taught by certified lifeguards.  We will offer an American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification Course this spring.

Registration is required for all programs!  Please log on to or call the Parks & Rec. Office at 518-456-3150 to register today!

**Effective March 2, 2022, the State's mandate for facemasks in schools and on buses ended.  As you are aware, a majority of our summer programming uses district facilities therefore, we will follow the same guidance.  Although masks will no longer be required in schools, it is recommended that those who are immunocompromised or at high risk for serious illness continue to wear masks.  In addition, campers, instructors and camp staff have the option to wear a mask if they feel more comfortable doing so.  We recognize this is a personal choice and expect such decisions will be met with mutual respect by all.   We continue to remind families, if you have a camper who is not feeling well, please keep your child home.**

When you register for Tawasentha Day Camp this season, we will be looking for your child's most recent immunization record. Please take a moment to review each member of your household account.  We will need an up-to-date submission of your child’s immunization record prior to the beginning of camp.

For your convenience, we will be implementing a feature that allows you to upload your child's records directly to your account. The steps to upload immunization records are as follows:

  • Login into your Account
  • Click “Members”
  • Select a Member by clicking on their name
  • Scroll to the bottom - you will see Required Documents and Immunization Records
  • Click on “Upload”
  • Click “Browse” to upload the file
  • Click “Submit”
Please note there is not a clear indication which file or even if the file was uploaded successfully.   Steps can be repeated if necessary.  If you experience any difficulty, for assistance, call the Parks and Recreation Office at 518-456-3150.  In addition, records may be mailed or dropped off to Guilderland Parks and Recreation, 181 State Route 146, Altamont, NY 12009, faxed to 518-456-3156 or emailed to  The submission of immunization records will be reviewed and approved by the Parks & Recreation Department.
