This summer program is designed for motivated 5th and 6th grade students that love their school band and orchestra program and want to continue a group experience during the summer. This will be a quick paced 5-day intensive beginner camp; students with less than one year of instruction will be discouraged from applying.
Band and Orchestra meet for 3 hours, Monday - Friday. Within that day, students from all 5 Elementary Schools can expect to learn 2-3 new ensemble pieces and work on technique building exercises to further their progress on their instrument. In addition, we plan to add combined Band and Orchestra team building activities throughout the week.
Each student will receive one semi-private lesson during the week from a member of Guilderland High School's Tri M Honor Society Program. These High School Students are dedicated musicians and very serious about their music studies and we are excited to collaborate with them.
On the final day of camp (Friday at 11:00am til 12:00pm), students will perform for family and friends on stage at the middle school. Students will receive a Guilderland Summer Music tee shirt for their participation and to wear for the concert.
