Everyone gets the part in this workshop! There are many opportunities for young performers to “break a leg” in the world of theatre in our area, but you need a little preparation to do your star-studded best.

Auditioning for the Theatre
  • In this workshop, you will be taught how to read from a script, prepare a song and show off yourself at your best with confidence.
  • Group and individual coaching will be provided.
  • Students will participate in fun “mock auditions” to help take the mystery out of the process.
  • Students should come with a song from a stage show or school chorus that they enjoy singing.
  • Students should provide the sheet music to the instructor on the first day.
  • No pop music please.
  • Instructor: Robert Whiteman is currently a 5th grade teacher in the Guilderland CSD. He has taught for 23 years, including 5 years as a music and theater teacher and several as an enrichment specialist. He is also a professional director. He was named a 2006 Disney Teacher of the Year and has taught acting and singing for many theater companies in the area.
