Butterfly Enrichment Camp is a program designed for children entering Grades 2 - 6 who are interested in learning about butterflies and the Albany Pine Bush, a locally endangered ecosystem.  Daily activites are differentiated according to grade level.  Daily activities include caring for caterpillars and butterflies in the Butterfly Station nursery, learning about native butterflies, butterfly catching, butterfly games and making numerous creative butterfly crafts.  

General Information
  • This is a fun, hands-on program designed for all young scientists!
  • Many of our young scientists go on to volunteer at the Butterfly Station when they attend Farnsworth Middle School and Guilderland High School.
  • This is a great program to peak the interest of children and encourage community service at a young age.
  • Students will need to bring $10 to the first day of camp to cover the cost of arts and crafts supplies.
  • All campers should wear clothing suitable for participating in outdoor activities.
  • It is recommended that students wear sneakers and bring a drink, as well as a light snack each day.
  • Instructor's Experience: Patrice Spring is a New York State certified teacher and has taught 6th grade Math and Science Teacher at FMS for the past 21 years. She has been an instructor for the Butterfly Enrichment Camp for the past 16 years and has also been actively involved in the Butterfly Station at Farnsworth Middle School.
